ToggleInside the Random Sentence Generator Builder
The default mode, Grammatically Correct, assembles English sentences from fixed word banks. It is not AI, and it does not understand what it writes. This random sentence generator picks a subject, a verb and an object from lists of 20 entries each. Then it adds an adverb or adjectives to reach a target word count.
Banks and Sentence Patterns
Every subject is a two-word phrase, such as “The developer” or “Our team.” Verbs are third-person forms like “optimizes,” and objects are mostly two-word phrases such as “the layout.” Because the parts are random, the grammar is usually sound but the meaning is not. For example, you may see “The database paints the canvas.”
Short sentences follow fixed patterns:
- 3 words: subject + verb
- 4 words: subject + adverb + verb
- 5 words: subject + verb + two-word object
Length Rules and Adjective Stacking
Medium (6–12 words) and Long (13–20 words) add adjectives to hit the target, placed right after a phrase’s opening word, such as “the.” That keeps phrasing tidy. However, long sentences end up with a large share of stacked adjectives before the object. Also, an adjective after “A” can produce “A efficient designer,” so scan the output before you use it.
The Seven Generation Modes
Seven modes ship with this random sentence generator, and each has limits worth knowing.
| Mode | What it builds | Limit to know |
|---|---|---|
| Grammatically Correct | Subject, verb and object templates | Meaning is random |
| Typing Practice | A starter, middle and ending | Not true pangrams; ignores Length |
| Passphrase/Password | Hyphen-joined lowercase entries | Not cryptographically secure |
| Lorem Ipsum | Random words from a 35-word Latin list | Not the classic opening paragraph |
| CJK (Simplified Chinese) | 20 Chinese terms, no spaces | Layout testing only |
| RTL (Arabic/Urdu) | 20 Arabic-script words, spaces | Layout testing only |
| Custom Word Bank | Random picks from your list | No grammar |
Random Sentences for Typing Practice
Typing Practice mode joins a starter, a middle and an ending, such as “The quick brown fox jumps over the fence.” Three banks of 10 give 1,000 base combinations, which is enough random sentences for typing practice in a school computer lab or at home. Note that the lines are pangram-style, not true pangrams, so they do not cover every letter. This mode also ignores the Length setting.
Heads-up: that example shows output with Add Ending Punctuation off. With it on, the ending’s built-in period gets a second mark, such as “fence..”. As a result, switch the toggle off for clean drills.
[Editor note: delete this heads-up paragraph if the double-punctuation bug is fixed in code.]
Lorem Ipsum, CJK and RTL Samples
Lorem Ipsum mode draws random words from a 35-word Latin list, so lines will not match the familiar opening paragraph. CJK mode joins 20 Simplified Chinese terms without spaces, and RTL mode joins 20 Arabic-script words with spaces. When Add Ending Punctuation is on, they close with 。 and ۔ respectively. Both banks exist for testing layouts, fonts and text direction. They are not translations, and the RTL list holds Arabic vocabulary rather than Urdu. Also, the RTL button flips direction for the output and preview only; choosing the mode does not.
Control Length, Punctuation and Separators
The random sentence generator keeps count, length and mode on the Settings tab. Count runs from 1 to 1,000, and out-of-range entries snap to the nearest valid number. Next, the Formatting tab sets the separator: New Line, Space, Comma, or a custom character up to five characters long. Choose Space to get a paragraph-style passage instead of a list.
- Start with Capital Letter and Add Ending Punctuation are on by default and skipped for passphrases.
- Random Numbers and Symbols are off by default. In Dynamic, Lorem and Custom modes they touch roughly 3 in 10 sentences; in Passphrase mode they apply to every phrase.
- Comma adds a comma and a space, so leave punctuation off to avoid “.,” pairs.
Passphrase Generator From Words and Its Limits
Passphrase/Password mode works as a memorable phrase builder. It picks lowercase entries from the subject, object and adjective banks and joins them with hyphens, as in “the database-creative-the story.” Some entries contain a space because they come from two-word phrases. Short length gives 3 to 5 entries, while Medium and Long cap at 6.
Security, however, needs a candid look. The pool holds about 60 entries, so each pick adds under 6 bits, and a six-entry phrase offers roughly 35 bits. The tool also relies on Math.random, which is not built for secrets. NIST’s SP 800-63B digital identity guidelines say randomly chosen memorized secrets should come from an approved random bit generator. For real accounts, therefore, use your password manager’s generator instead.
Use Your Own Words With a Custom Bank
Custom mode turns the tool into a sentence generator from words you supply: choose Custom Word Bank and a text box appears. Type or paste entries separated by commas or new lines, or use Upload to load a .txt file up to 10 MB. The tool reads the file in your browser, switches to Custom mode automatically, and rejects other file types.
Next, it picks entries at random and joins them with spaces. It does not build grammar, so you get a shuffle of your own words, not polished sentences. Spaces do not split entries, so “blue sky” counts as one. Brand terms and spelling lists work well. Keep lists modest, though, because the tool re-reads the whole bank for every sentence, and huge files slow generation.
Unique Random Sentence Creator: How Far It Goes
Strict Unique Mode is on by default. It compares each new sentence with the batch so far and drops repeats. That makes this random sentence generator a retry-based unique random sentence creator, not a guarantee. The run stops after 50 attempts per requested sentence, counted across the whole batch.
Three boundaries matter:
- Small banks: A short custom list can run out of fresh combinations, so you may receive fewer sentences than requested. Check the Sentences stat.
- CJK and RTL above 500: Uniqueness switches off for the whole run, a toast says so, and repeats can appear.
- Scope: Only the current batch is compared. A new run starts fresh, and a “?” ending counts as different from a “.” ending.
What Stays in Your Browser
Here is what this random sentence generator does with your text. Generated text is created in your browser and is not sent to our servers. Your tool settings (count, mode, length, toggles, separators) are saved locally in your browser using localStorage for convenience. Normal website cookies and analytics may apply per our Privacy Policy.
If you use a custom word bank, the words you type or upload are saved with those settings. Settings save when you press Generate. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Practical Uses Across Work and School
Teams and students use this random sentence generator in different ways:
| Who | Task | Suggested setup |
|---|---|---|
| Students | Typing drills in a school lab | Typing Practice, punctuation off |
| Writers | Prompts for Google Docs or Word drafts | Dynamic, Long |
| Teachers | Spelling or editing worksheets | Custom Word Bank, Medium |
| Developers and QA | Test strings for input fields and READMEs | Short and Long, numbers and symbols on |
| Designers | Fill Figma or Adobe XD mockups with varied lengths | Lorem or Dynamic, Copy Random |
Still, the sentences are random, so they suit editing drills and prompts better than reading-comprehension passages.
Known Limits and Accuracy Notes
Know the limits of this random sentence generator before relying on it:
- Output comes from banks and templates, so it can be nonsensical and is never fact-checked.
- Words are counted by spaces, so each CJK sentence counts as one word.
- Settings save only when you press Generate. If your browser blocks localStorage, the tool still works but forgets your choices.
- Once the page loads, generation needs no connection. The page itself must load first, though.
Responsible Use
Use output from this random sentence generator as placeholder or sample text for testing, drafting and creative practice. Do not use it for spam, to pass off work as your own, to publish deceptive pages, or to manipulate search rankings. Review and edit everything before it goes public.
Generate Random Sentences Online, Then Edit
Start with a small batch, check the Preview tab, and then scale up to the count you need. This random sentence generator gives you control over mode, length and format without an account. Copy what helps, and edit it before you publish.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Can I generate unlimited sentences
No. Each run produces 1 to 1,000 sentences. If you enter a number outside that range, the field corrects itself to the nearest valid value. For more text, run the tool again.
Q2: Does the tool work offline?
Partly. Generation happens in your browser without a server request, so a loaded page keeps working if your connection drops. However, the page itself must load first, and there is no offline install, so reloading without a connection will fail.
Q3: Are the sentences truly unique?
No guarantee. Strict Unique Mode compares each sentence with the current batch and allows 50 attempts per requested sentence. With small word banks you may receive fewer sentences than requested. In CJK and RTL modes above 500 sentences, uniqueness turns off and a toast warns you.
Q4: Can I use my own words?
Yes. For random sentences with specific words, choose Custom Word Bank, then type or paste entries separated by commas or new lines, or upload a .txt file up to 10 MB. The tool joins entries you supplied at random with spaces. It does not add grammar.
Q5: Is Passphrase mode cryptographically secure?
No. Treat it as a memorable phrase builder. It uses Math.random and a pool of about 60 entries, while NIST SP 800-63B expects randomly chosen secrets to come from an approved random bit generator. For real accounts, use a password manager instead.
Q6: Does it support Urdu or Chinese?
It offers word-bank samples, not translation. CJK mode uses 20 Simplified Chinese terms, and RTL mode uses 20 Arabic-script words and the Urdu-style full stop. Use them for layout, font and direction tests, not as finished writing.
Q7: Where does the tool save my settings?
In your browser’s localStorage, when you press Generate. That includes count, mode, length, toggles, separators and any custom word bank text. Dark mode and font size save separately. Clear your browser data to remove them.
Q8: Can I copy or export just one sentence?
Copy Random picks one sentence at random from the current batch and copies it. You cannot choose which one it picks. Export TXT downloads the full output as sentences.txt, so to keep one specific line, select it in the output box and copy it.
Q9: Is this random sentence generator AI writing?
No. It assembles sentences from built-in word banks and templates, or from a list you provide. It does not use a language model, so it can produce odd or meaningless lines. Review the text before you use it anywhere.
Disclaimer

What to Do Next?
After generating your random sentences, many users find it helpful to double-check the length before pasting them into social media bios, coding comments, or CMS fields. Verifying word and character counts ensures everything fits perfectly without manual editing. For detailed analysis, you can paste your output into our word counter or character counter. If you realized you only needed a short phrase rather than a full paragraph, our random paragraph generator offers longer blocks with similar control. Explore other utilities in our text tools.
